HandiFueler™ GSE Service Cart shown servicing fuel in an aircraft refuel truck
HandiFueler™ GSE Service Cart shows it's versatility - Here servicing fuel in an aircraft refuel truck.
Here we see the HandiFueler™ performing it's primary mission: servicing fuel in GSE in place, right on the flightline
Here we see the HandiFueler™ performing it's primary mission: Servicing fuel in GSE in place, right on the flightline.
AGE Refueler Nozzle
Here we can see the HandiFueler's™ fuel nozzle (stowed, left), the control panel with integrated emergency stop switch, the fuel use meter, and the grounding reel. Also notice the tank drain valve located at the bottom left. This is useful for taking fuel samples, daily water draining, as well as draining fuel from the tank, if needed. Additionally, take note of the two vertical shiny metal tubes. These bearing mounted tubes are additional hose guides to prevent interfering with any other components.
Fill-Rite Fuel Meter
A close-up of the fuel meter. A fuel log stowage location is conveniently located right above the meter. An LED cabinet light is also located above here so you can see what you are writing.
Back of HandiFueler™
The rear of the unit. Here there is easy access to the "purple k" fire extinguisher, a full service spill kit, and the PPE stowage. The fuel mode select valve (fuel/defuel), the electrical box and an aviation grade fuel filter/water separator are also located here. An additional daily water drain is located on the bottom of the filter/separator housing. Both water drains (tank drain on skid under fuel meter, and filter housing drain) can be conveniently accessed without crawling under the cart.
Oil-Safe bottles
The HandiFueler's™ service fluid stowage bin. Here, a user can stow cans of oil and hydraulic fluid, and radiator coolant. Though conventional cases/cans will fit, the bin is also designed to hold 5 liter Oil-Safe brand bottles that are used at some bases. To the left of the photo, we can see the tire service hose (on retractable reel), air pressure gauge, and fill port. Note: The Oil-Safe™ bottles are compatible, but are not included.
Samlex™ Charger and Optima™ Batteries
A look inside the sealed electrical box. Here are the electrical components, and the Samlex™ sprial gel-cell optimized charger (set at 100-115 VAC, adjustable to 220 VAC). The Samlex™ charger is recommended by Optima™ to maintain their batteries in peak condition.
Air Bottle
A 10 gallon air bottle, maxiumum pressure 125 psi (with safety bleed valve). This bottle stores enough air to service one typical ground support equipment tire completely, or several that are low on air. Easy to refill back at the shop service area with any schraeder valve equipped compressed air hose. This is an example of a feature suggested by several HandiFueler™ users.
Defuel Wands
This is a close-up of the defueling wand stowage tubes (1 flex, and 1 rigid). Removing the nozzle and attaching a wand takes seconds with the attached quick-disconnect fittings.
Rigid Wand
The rigid defueling wand, useful for mobility or maintenance prep.
Flex wand
The flex defueling wand, for curved fuel necks.
HandiFueler Control Box with e-stop
A close-up shot of the control box. The E-Stop switch immediately cuts all power to the HandiFueler's™ fuel pump in emergency situations.
Betts™ LED Spotlamp
The Betts™ LED spot lamp, mounted where is useful for GSE servicing, or when swiveled, lighting up the top of the HandiFueler™ when servicing the tank. The LED draws minimum current from the battery. The cart also has LED cabinet lamps mounted under the hood. Even the control box indicator lamps are LED. LEDs were specified because they run cool around fuel vapors, last a long time, and draw much less current than equivalent incandescent lighting.
Refueler top fill port
The fill port and manway on the top of the HandiFueler™ tank. The fill tube is shaped like a "Z" to prevent static buildup from the free-fall of fuel. The port and manway is padlockable to prevent others from mistaking your refueler as a waste oil bowser, and ruining your fuel. The HandiFueler™ abounds with these seemingly small, but important features.
Refueler trailer hookup
The front of the HandiFueler™ GSE Service Cart. Note the 7-pin connector mounted on the tow bar. This connector/harness allows the HandiFueler™ to operate and charge from the Bobtail's electrical system. Also notice the heavy-duty tie down lugs in the event the HandiFueler™ needs to be mobilized.
Optima™ Deep Cycle batteries
The HandiFueler™ utilizes Optima's™ highest capacity commercial deep-cycle batteries (x2). The fueler is capable of operating exclusively off the batteries, from the tow bobtail's electrical system, or via the Samlex™ power supply/charger.
Heavy Duty Tie Downs
For mobility purposes, the HandiFueler™ features heavy-duty, reinforced tie-down D-rings at four courners.
Refueler Fork pockets
The Optima™ Deep Cycle batteries are stowed in a vented side-saddle box. The fork pockets are accessable from this side, too.
The handiFueler is Fork liftable
The HandiFueler™ Ground Support Fuel Service Cart features fork pockets with integrated no slip step and chalk stowage.
Safety equipment around refueling
New for 2010 is a feature that was suggested by a Handifueler™ user, a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stowage area, to the right of the fuel absorber pads.
Fill-Rite 12V Pump
The HandiFueler's™ Fill-Rite™ Heavy Duty fuel pump is used throught the fuel transfer industry because it is reliable and easy to maintain.
HandiFueler™ tire service station and fluid stowage area
Right side view of the HandiFueler™ GSE Service Cart. Note the service fluid stowage area, battery box location, and fork pockets.
Control location for HandiFueler™ ground support service cart
The left side of the HandiFueler™ GSE Service Cart. This is where the operator controls are located (driver's side of the tow vehicle for easy and quick access).
The onboard air bottle provides air to a GSE tire
The HandiFueler™ is shown servicing air in the tire of an air compressor.
Filling the HandiFueler™ with fuel
The HandiFueler™ being serviced from an aircraft fuel truck. Large, high-flow nozzels can fill via the manway; smaller low-flow nozzels can fill the HandiFueler™ via the top fill port.
